NATURE
Images taken of/in the wild must be completely natural and not show the "hand of man". That is, they may not show evidence of man's presence or influence on the environment. Whether it be eagles, fall leaves, waterfalls, flowers, etc., the image may not include fences, trails, utility poles or wild animals in captive settings.
ENVIRONMENT
This includes images that appear natural but do show the influence of man. Examples; ivy growing on a fence or flowers in a garden, a bee on a cultivated plant, birds at a feeder, domestic animals, or a landscape that includes a trail, bridge, fence and/or stone wall.
PORTRAIT
A planned image of a person or persons (no pets) which shows the personality or character of the subject. The subject should fill the frame.
PERSONS
A less formal image of a person or persons. Examples: people sitting around a table, a chess player looking at the board, person on a skateboard, the start of a race.
ARCHITECTURE
An image of a man-made structure such as a barn, building, skyscraper, or bridge. (The primary focus is usually one structure.) It can show the exterior or interior of a building, i.e. unique decorative design, a spiral staircase, etc. (An image of a skyline in the distance would be a landscape and not architecture.)
MISCELLANEOUS
There are many other subjects which do not fit in the above categories. Examples; pets, still life, abstract, fruits and/or vegetables, coins, memorabilia from an era and toys.
